I took a break from writing this last week because I started weaving again. It was my first time back at the loom in many years. Out of some kind of habit of letting bright shiny objects distract me from my intention, I finally sat down and began.
The new project was ambitious – a long warp with earthy green toned panels to be used for pillows. It took a couple of days, but when I pulled the completed fabric from the loom, there was a sense of relief. I wasn’t completely happy with what I had woven; some of the weft bars of color seemed out of place. But all in all, it was not too shabby. Unfortunately, I rushed the sewing and broke a needle on my brand new serger. After a little disappointmet, I chalked it up to a learning experience.
