Poor Richard's Web Site:
Geek-Free, Commonsense Advice on Building a
Low-Cost Web Site by Peter
Kent
Poor
Richard's Web Site is the only book on the market that is actually
about setting up a Web site. Sure, there are hundreds of Web related books;
there are books about HTML (which you don't need in order to set up a
Web site), books about JavaScript, ActiveX, Java, and other programming
languages (which are no use to non-programmers), and books about Web-site
design (which are no use until you've actually got a Web site, and overkill
for most purposes in any case). There are books about promoting a Web
site (again, useful if you actually have a Web site), and books about
setting up Web servers (something that most people shouldn't be doing).
In fact some of the books with "Web Site" in the title are actually about
setting up Web servers, a complicated, expensive - and in most cases unnecessary
- task.
But are there any books about the process of setting up a Web site from
start to finish, from initial planning, through creation, and ending up
with Web-site promotion? Are there any books that explain all this in
a geek-free commonsense way? Yes, there's just one, Poor Richard's Web
Site. buy
